The route covers about 34 km on footpaths, dirt roads and forest tracks that connect up to local roads.
Here and there it traverses conifer woods, Alpine pastures and high altitude landscapes at the foot of perennial snows, encountering villages, Alpine homesteads, old watermills, unspoilt nature and a bygone atmosphere that lives on alongside contemporary mountain.
The matterhorn cycle path is currently completed but not yet usable pending definitive agreements with the private counterparties on whose properties the route is traced. Soon the conventions will be signed and we will be able to officially open the course.
Signage
The route is marked by coloured-coded signposts, plaques and marker stones according to level of difficulty starting from green [easy], blue [intermediate], and red [difficult, for expert cyclists] and black [very challenging].

It’s essential that each individual cyclist assess their skills and ability to tackle the route, taking into account difficulty, elevation gain, length, terrain and type of bike used.
Services
Along the route there are places to find refreshment and also shops. E-bike charging points are located on the main stages [you need your own cable]. Cyclists departing and arriving at Lignan can purchase local products from the vending machine installed there.
